Laurie Porstner (B.A. Classical Archaeology- Hunter College, CUNY; M.A. History of Art & Archaeology- Institute of Fine Arts, NYU) is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Art History at Rutgers University specializing in later Greek and Roman art. Her dissertation examines the materiality of magic and religion in relation to a festival of boundaries.  Laurie has taught introductory Art History courses at Rutgers University and several other colleges and universities in New York City.  She has also taught high school classes inside the Metropolitan Museum for a private school in New York City and worked for the College Board.  Her article on magic, religion, and popular culture in two mosaics from Roman Tunisia was published in the New Classicists journal in 2020.
