Lindsey Hewitt is a Ph.D. student studying Italian Renaissance art. Lindsey completed her M.A. in Art History at Syracuse University’s Florence Program in Italian Art History as a Florence Fellow. Her master’s thesis examined Andrea di Cione’s Expulsion of the Duke of Athens (1343-49) at the Stinche, Florence’s communal prison, and considered how the economic and political configuration of the incarcerated population informed the fresco’s reception. She received her B.A. in Art History from Washington and Lee University. Before pursuing a doctorate, Lindsey was the David W. and Mary S. Benfer Curatorial Research Fellow at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art.
