Isabella Weiss is a PhD Candidate specializing in the two-dimensional arts of late medieval and early modern northern Europe. Her dissertation reconsiders the pre-histories of the landscape genre and botanical illustration in Europe by excavating understudied depictions of the meadow and meadow flora in secular art from the long fifteenth century. Prior to her doctoral research, Isabella earned a BA in studio art at Reed College, with a specialization in graphite and watercolor media on paper.
