Carla Yanni, Professor, was elected to serve as the Second Vice President of the Society of Architectural Historians. This is a two-year term, typically followed by a four-year term.  The Society of Architectural Historians promotes the study, interpretation, and conservation of architecture, design, landscapes, and urbanism worldwide.

SAH is a nonprofit membership organization that serves a network of local, national, and international institutions and individuals who, by profession or interest, focus on the history of the built environment and its role in shaping contemporary life. She is especially excited about working with the expert professional team at SAH in Chicago.

SAH has been awarded millions of dollars in grants (several from Mellon.) It publishes the premier journal in architectural history, an online vetted source of copyright-free images, an online carefully edited encyclopedia of architecture, and the headquarters is located in the SAH-owned Charnley-Persky House, and important work of modern architecture designed by Louis Sullivan with assistance from his junior draftsperson, Frank Lloyd Wright.
