Art History Grads Take on Major Roles in State Historic Preservation
Sue Shutte and Sara Quinlan have taken up important roles in historic preservation in the state of New Jersey
Sue Shutte was recently appointed as a trustee to the Preservation NJ Board. She is a graduate of the RU art history department and she holds a master’s degree from Cornell University in Historic Preservation Planning. She is the historian for Ringwood State Park and oversees three designated national register listed historic districts.

In January 2026, Sara Quinlan was appointed Historic Preservation Officer for the Municipality of Princeton. She earned her MA degree in Cultural Heritage and Preservation Studies at RU (2019) and has worked for the City of Jersey City and FEMA.
