Access to the Slide Collection
At various times, faculty members from other departments in the University request the use of slides for their classes. As it is possible, the department wishes to cooperate with other University programs. The Department of Art History is a small department that depends greatly on its visual materials. Non-departmental regular faculty may request use of the collection for two classes during a semester if the request does not conflict with departmental needs. Slides must be checked out directly before a class and returned immediately afterwards. The department can not accomodate TAs or students from other departments. Requests may be addressed to Donald W. Beetham, Director of the Visual Resources Collection. There are digital alternatives to slides being developed. Currently the university does license AMICO images through Luna Insight. It is hoped and expected that the larger ARTstor soon will be added. This will make a large body of digital images available to the entire university. Procedures for Student Presentations in Art History Classes Students
are encouraged to come at least three weeks before their presentation to
ascertain the availability of materials for their topic. If slides
are not available for a topic, students will need to provide their own.
