Attention: Undergraduate Students
Regarding: New Course for Spring 2010
Date Posted: Tue, 17 Nov 2009

The Department offers a new course (01:082:403)index #74244 /Approaches to Art History particularly designated for students contemplating writing an honors thesis, applying to graduate programs in art history, or embarking on a career in art history. The class presents an overview of the literature and methods of art history from the Renaissance to the present day.Through close readings of relevant theoretical and analytical texts, students will gain familiarity with the history of the discipline as well as with contemporary approaches to the study of art objects. Limited to fifteen students, this course is heavily based on class participation and discussion. It builds on knowledge obtained in prior art history courses and will prepare students for advanced work in art history. It is strongly recommended that students have taken ARH 105 and 106 along with two additional upper-level courses to enroll in this seminar. Please direct questions to Professor Flores: tatifany@yahoo.com.
