Ballantine Hall: Built 1894

Ballantine Hall was the college gymnasium.

In the 1930s most of Ballantine Hall was destroyed by fire. This is a view from one of the upper stories of Johnson and Johnson after the fire. The rear part of the building, on the right, was salvagable. Voorhees Hall can be seen in the rear with the first expansion completed.

After the fire, the rear part of the building remained standing. After the construction of the College Avenue Gym, it was used as a classroom building. This section has now been absorbed in to the Zimmerli Art Museum.

Part of the old facade of Ballatine Hall still can be seen in the parking lot behind the Zimmerli Art Museum. Another corner of Ballantine Hall is visible in the George Street entrance to the museum.
