Art History students are required to complete at least eleven one-term courses for a total of thirty-three (33) credits, including: the two introductory courses 082:105 and 082:106, (unless a score of 4 or 5 is achieved on the Advanced Placement Test).

Of the nine advanced level courses, at least one must be taken in four of the following five areas: Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance/Baroque, Modern, and Study Abroad; one course in African, Asian, Islamic, South America, or Native American; and one must be the Capstone Seminar in Art History 082:491/492.

It should also be noted that graduation credit in the major is based on a grade of C or better.

For more information, see Art History Courses and the Major from the Undergraduate Handbook. Please stop by the Art History office in Room 112 Voorhees Hall  if you have additional questions.

Majors with a GPA of 3.0 and an Art History GPA of 3.5 or better are eligible to apply for admission to the Honors Program in Art History

Minor Requirements Summary

The minor in Art History requires just six classes. We’ve had double majors in math, economics, pharmacy, business, and many other fields. It is a great way to meet people outside your home discipline. We encourage Art History minors to become active members of our department, including attending lectures, social events, and joining our Undergraduate student organization, RAHSA.
