ARTICLE I:      NAME
Section A:      The name of the organization shall be the Greater New York Chapter of the Visual Resources Association.
 

ARTICLE II:     PURPOSE
        Section A:      The purpose of the organization is to promote communication among national members of the Visual Resources      Association within the New York metropolitan area.  It will act within the general framework of the original constitution and the bylaws of the international Visual Resources Association.
 

ARTICLE III:    MEMBERSHIP
        Section A:      All members of the international Visual Resources Association who are living within the New York metropolitan area and its environs are eligible to join.

        Section B:      Dues are payable annually by Feb. 15.  The amount shall be proposed by the officers and ratified by a plurality of members voting.

        Section C:      All members in good standing may hold office and are entitled to receive announcements of meetings of the local chapter and may vote.
 

ARTICLE IV:     MEETINGS
        Section A:      Meetings are to be held at a minimum of twice annually.
 

ARTICLE V:      OFFICERS 
        Section A:      The elected officers shall be the Chairperson, the Chairperson Elect/Vice Chairperson and the Secretary/Treasurer.
1.      Officers will be members in good standing.

        Section B:      The Chairperson will serve for one year.
1.      The chair shall be responsible for calling meetings.
                        2.      The chair shall be responsible for submitting two written reports of the local meetings and activities annually to the national organization.

        Section C:      The Vice Chairperson/Chairperson Elect will serve for one year  .
                        1.      The Vice Chairperson shall serve in all matters when the Chair is not available.
                        2.      The Vice Chairperson shall become the Chairperson in the succeeding year.

        Section D:      The Secretary/Treasurer shall serve for two years.
                        1.      The Secretary/Treasurer shall keep minutes for all of the business meetings.
2.      The Secretary/Treasurer shall maintain mailing lists and be responsible for correspondence.
                        3.      The Secretary/ Treasurer shall collect annual dues and maintain records.
 

ARTICLE VI:     ELECTIONS
        Section A:      The officers shall be elected from nominations received from the floor at the first meeting of the calendar year.

        Section B:      The officers shall be elected by a plurality of votes cast by members present at the meeting.

        Section C:      A new Vice Chairperson will be elected in odd numbered years with the exception of 1998.  The Secretary/Treasurer will be elected in even years.
 

ARTICLE VII: AMENDMENTS 
        Section A:      Amendments to the Bylaws may be submitted to the chapter in writing by voting members.

        Section B:      Approval of a 2/3 majority of voting members shall be necessary to amend the Bylaws with the approval of the Executive Board of the international Visual Resources Association.

        Section C:      The Bylaws shall be reviewed at least every five years.
